SONGWRITING camps

two day writing camp

FRIDAY 23rd & SATURDAY 24th NOVEMBER

Are you looking to collaborate with other artists?

Are you new to the music scene and want to get some studio experience?

Do you have backlog of half finished songs that you want to get finished and demo'd?

Then this 3 day songwriting camp is perfect for you!

This November we will be hosting a two day writing camp. These camps are designed to throw you in the deep end and get you writing quickly with other writers. Here's what you will get from the camp:

  • Write collectively to actual industry briefs

  • Learn how to utilise poetry and melody

  • Writing in larger groups

  • Developing simple production skills for demoing

  • Performance tips and tricks when putting down a vocal

  • Get writing if you don’t play an instrument

  • Great for artists who want to meet writers and writers who want to meet artists.

Our aim with this camp it create a professional standard industry track that can be submitted for sync brief or for an artist (briefs decided on the day).

Song writing camps require you to take a step out of your comfort zone, they require you to fight or fly, and this is often where you can find the most creative and unfiltered version of yourself. And, if that sounds terrifying, then it’s probably exactly what you need.

  • With 10 years experience working in the music industry, from the creative heart of East London, Hackney Wick, Michelle and Alex are now wanting to share their knowledge with a wider community of artists. Having graduated from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts in 2015, they are becoming increasingly aware or how difficult it can be for artists who don't study music to learn, network and collaborate. Hence the development of their first writing camp where their aim is to pass down their knowledge and skills in an open, inclusive and creative environment.

  • £195 PER PERSON

We only have 6 spaces available for this camp and they will be given on a first come first serve basis. To secure your place simply book via the link above, or email record@theinscape.co to discuss payment plan options.

(Our goal is to make creative spaces available to as many people as possible, so, partial and full funded spots are sometimes available for those in financial hardship. For more information drop us an email).

  • 10am - 5pm with a 45 min dinner break and a couple of comfort breaks when needed

  • Do I need prior experience of song writing?

Although our camps usually welcome complete beginners, this particular camp would like to welcome writers with a basic understanding of song writers or poetry.

Since this camp is only over two days we won’t be spending our usual time delving into the specifics of songwriting. Instead, we will dive straight into the process.

Do I need to play an instrument?

Definitely not, in fact, we will be looking at how to create songs when you don't play an instrument.

    What should I bring?

A note pad, pen, instrument if you play one and an open mind

  • Testimonials

Inspiring and supportive. I learnt so much, felt comfortable as it was a small group, the studio was such a great space to be in. Alex and Shell were both so knowledgeable and amazing teachers.

  • Testimonials

I would 100% recommend this camp to anyone creative. From musicians wanting to work on songwriting to anyone interested, because it gets. You to see music in a different way, helps with coming up with creative ideas, and gets you out of your comfort zone to produce an outcome you’re proud of .

  • Testimonials

Definitely. It felt amazing to write with other people and merge ideas. I feel like I can write a song now anytime instead of just when inspired. I felt we were treated like professionals instead of (in my case) an amateur and that increased my confidence hugely and made me feel part of the musician world instead of someone outside looking in.

  • Testimonials

It was a chance to focus and hone in on our songwriting skills, an aspect of music creation that can be often overlooked for me as a producer primarily. I really appreciated expertise from both Dop and Shell as they combine their production knowledge with vocal storytelling in a complimentary way every musician should really have under their belt.

  • Testimonials

The camp inspired me to write more haiku poems , to really break down a moment in time and tell a story. I also now have a. Stronger sense of what structure is within music, and that I shouldn’t get too hung up on it being perfect. I’ve also taken on using loops from splice as a starting place for my song to leap frog off from.
